. Local 940 Will Collect Used Cell Phones to Help Soldiers Deployed! In an effort to support the troops stationed overseas, The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) has launched its Cell Phones for Soldiers Pilot Program. Through the program, participants can drop off their used cell phones at designated drop-off sites. The phones will then be recycled for cash that will be used to purchase prepaid calling cards for soldiers who cannot afford to make expensive long distance phone calls. The program will accept any make or model cell phone. Please drop off the cell phone with the attached battery only. The cell phones are recycled for cash to purchase more calling cards. We are also collecting calling cards to send to our troops! Please drop your cell phones in the drop box in the Lobby Area from 9:30AM to 3:00PM, Monday thru Friday or bring your calling cards to the Union Office or call Dee Dent at 215-842-2000 ext 2563 for pick up.
